Former CNN host Chris Cuomo’s new prime-time show made its debut and the results were underwhelming.

According to cable news ratings published by Mediaite, the debut of “Cuomo” on NewsNation Monday night only brought in 147,000 total viewers.

The show fell flat among the 25-54 demographic with only 8,000 viewers.

In July, Cuomo made the announcement he would be joining NewsNation.

“I’m going to come to NewsNation and I want to build something special here,” he said at the time.

Cuomo added, “I had decided that I can’t go back to what people see as ‘the big game.’ I don’t think I can make a difference there.”

He suggested “we need insurgent media. I think we need outlets that aren’t fringe and just trying to fill their pockets.”

CNN parted ways with Cuomo in December 2021.

The New York Times noted his termination came days after the New York attorney general released emails and text messages showing the host had been involved with giving advice to his brother amid a sexual harassment scandal.

In March, Cuomo filed a lawsuit against the network seeking $125 million.

Cuomo’s lawyer said at the time it “should by now be obvious that Chris Cuomo did not lie to CNN about helping his brother.”

He added, “In fact, as the limited information released from WarnerMedia’s investigation makes clear, CNN’s highest-level executives not only knew about Chris’s involvement in helping his brother but also actively assisted the governor, both through Chris and directly themselves.”

Additionally, Cuomo argued other CNN staff who appeared to break rules were not disciplined.

“As long as CNN’s ratings would not be hurt, Zucker and Gollust were more than willing to overlook major transgressions by CNN personalities such as Don Lemon and Jake Tapper, or even to engage in blatant misconduct themselves,” the filing stated, as Insider reported.
