Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is speaking out about his relationship with alcohol.

Cuomo discussed the issue during an episode of his podcast on Thursday.

He told his listeners, “I take my body and — my diet can suck. I drink too much.”

Cuomo added, “I’m thinking about that, mostly in terms of why I drink too much. I’m probably what people in the sobriety community would call a ‘normie’ but a hard drinker.”

Admitting that he “drinks often,” Cuomo continued, “I definitely think it’s not always for the right reason. I think it’s to settle my mind. I think it’s to deal with emotions.”

Still, he does not believe that he is an alcoholic.

“I don’t believe in abusing those terms, but it’s something I’ve had to think about, and it’s something that I am thinking about and it’s something that I’m dealing with because my mental health has become an increasing aspect of my self-concern about how I can be my best. I really believe that, you know, where your head is, is where your life goes,” Cuomo explained.

Watch Cuomo’s comments below:

In December 2021, Cuomo was fired by CNN amid an investigation into his efforts to help his brother following sexual harassment accusations.

In March, it was reported that Cuomo was seeking $125 million in damages following his termination.

“CNN repeatedly breached its agreement with Cuomo, and Cuomo has suffered untold damage to his personal and professional reputation,” a filing stated.

It continues, “As a direct result of CNN’s calculated efforts to tar and feather him, Cuomo is now untouchable in the world of broadcast journalism.”

This fall, Cuomo will host his own show on the NewsNation network.

The Washington Post noted that while Cuomo’s CNN show drew an average of 2 million nightly viewers in 2020, NewsNation reportedly brought in an average of only 46,000 viewers in prime time in 2021.
