Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is letting his followers know who he voted for.

“Two things to say this afternoon. First, I have now voted and I voted for President Trump. Second, no matter where you are in public, please remember to wear your mask,” Christie wrote on Twitter.

Christie helped lead Trump’s debate preparations last month.

He admitted he did not wear a mask while prepping the president for the debate or during an event honoring Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

Christie announced he checked himself into Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey, the same day he tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 3, as IJR previously reported.

He was released a week later.

“I want to thank the extraordinary doctors & nurses who cared for me for the last week,” Christie said on Twitter.

Christie later issued a statement explaining why he regrets not wearing a mask during those events.

“I believed when I entered the White House grounds, that I had entered a safe zone, due to the testing that I and many others underwent every day,” Christie said.

He added, “I was wrong. I was wrong not to wear a mask at the Amy Coney Barrett announcement and I was wrong not to wear a mask at my multiple debate prep sessions with the president and the rest of the team.”

Christie encouraged Americans to look to his experience when deciding whether they should take proper precautions.

“I hope that my experience shows my fellow citizens that you should follow C.D.C. guidelines in public no matter where you are and wear a mask to protect yourself and others,” he said.

More than 9,000,600 people in the United States have been infected with the coronavirus as of Thursday afternoon and at least 228,300 have lost their lives.
