White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain is touting the job Vice President Kamala Harris is doing amid a new report that suggests White House aides have grown exasperated with her.

During an appearance on CNN on Monday, Klain said, “She’s doing a magnificent job. And by the way, in that report, I’m quoted as saying what I believe, which is that there’s no vice president I’ve seen that’s gotten off to a faster start than Vice President Harris. She’s doing an amazing for the president.”

“What I know is she is delivering for the American people,” he added. “She helped us deliver on this infrastructure bill. She then got up a few days later and went across the ocean to France and spent a week over there hoping to repair and strengthen our alliance with America’s oldest ally.”

Klain continued:

“She’s delivering for the American people. Every day she’s doing a fantastic job whether it’s on domestic matters or international matters.”

On Sunday, CNN published a report that said that “key West Wing aides have largely thrown up their hands at Vice President Kamala Harris and her staff.”

“The exasperation runs both ways,” the report added. “Interviews with nearly three dozen former and current Harris aides, administration officials, Democratic operatives, donors, and outside advisers — who spoke extensively to CNN — reveal a complex reality inside the White House. Many in the vice president’s circle fume that she’s not being adequately prepared or positioned, and instead is being sidelined.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tweeted apparently in response to the story, “For anyone who needs to hear it. [Vice President Kamala Harris] is not only a vital partner to [President Biden] but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country — from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband.”
