Music icon and politically-astute citizen Cher is announced this week that she is supporting former Vice President Joe Biden in the Democratic primary. The singer is known for her political activism.

In a tweet, she defended Biden against the attacks that he’s too old for the presidency, writing, “[Joe Biden].I 4Got 4 Min. What a Good,Wise,Kind Man You Are, But I WONT Turn My Back On You Now That You’re Struggling. Many Times In My Life Ppl Said, ‘She’s, Untalented, Too Old For Movies, Music, The Stage. Don’t Give Up Joe. ‘Your Head is Bloodied, But Unbowed.'”

She added later, “This will Most Likely Be Unpopular, but Last Nite I Asked Myself,’Who, Would I Be ,if I denied a Man I Know & Respect 4 a Shiny, New, Tech Savey BILLIONAIRE’. Joe’s Made Mistakes, like all of Us, but I Believe He Would Be Honest,Smart, ‘CIVIL’ PRES. Who Doesn’t Have 2 Learn On The Job.”

Biden responded to the endorsement on Twitter, writing, “Thanks for the kind words. I’m in Vegas this week. Let me know if you need an opener!”

During the 2016 election, Cher campaigned against now-President Donald Trump and fundraised for Hillary Clinton. During one fundraiser for the Democratic nominee in Massachusetts, Cher said that Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan is actually just code for “we want to make America straight and white.”

At another point in that fundraiser, the singer told the crowd, “I know that if [Trump] got into office, our world would be the worst place. I don’t think we could imagine how bad it could get.”

This isn’t the first time that Cher has come to Biden’s defense. Last April, as Biden was accused of not being cognizant of women’s personal space, Cher wrote on Twitter, “Once spent time talking [to] Joe Biden In His Office. I asked Point-ed Questions. As Time Passed I Found Him Forthright, Kind, [and] Smart.”
