Corporate media outlets published glowing articles about Vice President Kamala Harris’ “Unite for America Rally” in Michigan, hosted by Oprah Winfrey, despite her rambling responses during the Thursday event.

The outlets’ headlines highlighted the “emotional” nature of the event, where the vice president fielded questions from supporters and celebrities. Harris delivered rambling answers to audience questions on the border crisis and cost of living, as well as during her closing statement when Winfrey asked “what is on [her] heart to say to the American people” as the election approaches.

WATCH:

The Washington Post ran the headline, “With abortion in focus, Harris’s event with Oprah prompts cheers and tears,” focusing on a Georgia mother’s story about her daughter’s death after not receiving an abortion in time. The piece notes the audience was in tears and praises Harris’ response as “some of her most forceful lines of the event.”

However, the article fails to mention Harris’ rambling answers.

When a supporter asked Harris about her plan “to help lower the cost of living” and discussed her struggles to achieve the “American dream,” the vice president rambled throughout her long answer, eventually repeating the economic policies she has already announced.

“Yours is a story I hear around the country as I travel and in terms of both rightly having the right to have aspirations and dreams and ambitions for your family, and working hard and finding that the American dream is, for this generation and so many recently, far more elusive than it’s been,” Harris began her response.

When Harris faced a question about illegal immigration, the vice president rambled for nearly three minutes about her background as attorney general of California and a prosecutor before turning her attention to the demise of a bipartisan border bill, which she ultimately pinned on Republicans. Winfrey ended up prompting Harris to answer the question, leading her to state she “will make sure that bill gets to my desk and I will sign it into law.”

Similarly, The New York Times ran a headline highlighting the “emotional” nature of the event, and credits the vice president with speaking “more elaborately than she has before on the effects of illegal immigration.” It also praises “Winfrey’s skill of drawing out the humanity and vulnerability of her subjects was on display, including with the often guarded vice president.”

The NYT also did not mention Harris’ rambling responses.

Reuters’ too echoed the “emotional” tone of the rally in its headline. The article noted the event “was marked by teary moments and celebrity endorsements, drawing hundreds of thousands of viewers across social media” without acknowledging any rambling during the event.

Harris’ closing statement also contained rambling when she discussed “love” for the United States and advocated for unity.

“We love our country. I love our country. I know we all do, that’s why everybody’s here right now. We love our country,” Harris said in part. “We take pride in the privilege of being American and this is a moment where we can and must come together as Americans, understanding we have so much more in common than what separates us. Let’s come together with the character that we are so proud of about who we are.”

The NYT, Washington Post and Reuters did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
