Daily Wire podcast host Candace Owens called out Twitter owner Elon Musk over restrictions of the “What is a Woman?” documentary on Twitter.

On June 1, Owens reacted regarding the alleged censorship on her Twitter page.

“What specifically is sensitive about a 2 hour (sic) documentary that asks people ‘what is a woman’? Positively ludicrous to refer to this content as sensitive,” she tweeted.

Continuing, she wrote, “People are sensitive. The content itself is not.”

This came after the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, who spearheaded the film on gender identity, posted a screenshot, which showed Twitter limited the visibility of the film for violating its rules against “hateful conduct.”

Positively ludicrous to refer to this content as sensitive.

People are sensitive.

The content itself is not.

“Twitter has decided that our film doesn’t contribute to a ‘healthy conversation.’ The only healthy conversation about this subject is one where everyone agrees with trans activists,” he noted.

Walsh asked, “Is this what free speech means on this platform?”

Jeremy Boreing, a co-founder of the Daily Wire, detailed in a lengthy thread how Twitter also shut down a deal with the conservative news outlet to premiere the documentary for free on its platform “because of two instances of ‘misgendering.'”

Musk responded to the allegations, claiming the censorship “was a mistake by many people at Twitter.”

“Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws. I should note that I do personally use someone’s preferred pronouns, just as I use someone’s preferred name, simply from the standpoint of good manners,” he explained.

Similarly, Musk clarified he also opposed “rude behavior, ostracism or threats of violence if the wrong pronoun or name is used.”

Furthermore, Musk said the restrictions would be removed the next day so that those following the Daily Wire could see the film on Twitter. However, it would not be “recommended to non-followers” or advertised.

“Commenting & deliberate sharing will be allowed. Sensitive content just won’t be pushed to people unless they ask for it or a friend sends it to them,” he wrote.
