Actress Candace Cameron Bure opened up about almost being canceled due to her bold Christian faith.

During Wednesday’s episode of Bure’s podcast the “Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,” she spoke openly about the backlash she received last year for her beliefs.

“When I had a lot of these ‘bullets’ kind of hit me in the last year or so, they’ve been a really big challenge to me personally, to my heart, to my character, to my relationships, to my jobs,” Bure, 47, told co-host and writer Bianca Olthoff.

The “Full House” star added, “I remember being so upset over it because it’s like how do you recover?”

“I’ll just say it, Cancel Culture is very real,” she noted, adding, “and they were trying to cancel me.”

Bure recalled her brother, former “Growing Pains” actor turned evangelist Kirk Cameron, calling her and welcoming her into the “James 1 club.”

“So obviously I looked up James 1 and I recognized the verse immediately. I just didn’t know where it was in the Bible,” she explained.

Bure proceeded to read James 1:2-4 which she said was “really important” for her.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing,” she shared.

Skipping to verse 12, Bure read, “But blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

She further explained that she “truly” just wants to live her life “with conviction.” (10:08)

“But I’m just trying to live my life. I’m not necessarily trying to put my life on anyone else,” Bure continued.

In November 2022, Bure received backlash for stating in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that she left the Hallmark Channel to join Great American Family (GAC Family) because she thinks “that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” excluding same-sex couples in its movies.

On Nov. 16, she took to her Instagram page to address the controversy.

“All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,” she wrote in a statement.

Bure, who referred to herself as a “devoted Christian,” took the opportunity to express her love to everyone, including her critics.

“I have a simple message: I love you anyway. To those who hate what I value and who are attacking me online: I love you,” she wrote.

Bure continued, “To those who have tried to assassinate my character: I love you. To everyone reading this, of any race, creed, sexuality, or political party, including those who have tried to bully me with name-calling, I love you.”
