Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's organization, Bloomberg Philanthropies, is donating $40 million to help combat the coronavirus outbreak. Bloomberg Philanthropies released a statement on Tuesday about the Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Coronavirus Global Response Initiative explaining its purpose and how it will serve as an asset to combat the growing pandemic. “Millions of lives depend on getting the coronavirus response right – and so does the economic and social health of communities around the world," Bloomberg, founder of the organization, said. It is also partnering with Dr. Tom Frieden — president and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives. Their main objective will be to help impoverished cities and countries to combat the coronavirus outbreak. As of Wednesday morning, there are more than 200,000 positive coronavirus cases across the world.
