Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are donating a large sum of cash to combat hunger during the coronavirus outbreak.

The two actors took to Instagram on Monday to announce their donation of $1 million will be divided between two different food banks — Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. Their contribution will be used to feed low-income families and older adults.

Reynolds shared his opinion of the virus while encouraging others to pitch in and help combat hunger.

“I think we can all agree, Covid-19 is an a**hole,” Reynolds said. “If you’re able to help, visit [Feeding America] and [Food Banks Canada].”

Lively also chimed in with a post of her own, saying, “Love can travel through all this.” She touched on the impact of the coronavirus and how people can work together to come up with innovative ways to help out.

“Communities are stepping up — shopping for the elderly, making lunches for children,” Lively wrote. “We can all do something for one another, even if that’s simply staying home.”

The coronavirus outbreak in the United States has temporarily altered daily life for many.

Over the weekend, multiple states announced the closure of schools, restaurants, bars, movie theaters, gyms and other places. In a matter of days, gathering restrictions have gone from 250 people or less down to 50 or less. Many churches even opted to cancel traditional worship services and stream services online.

The social distancing overhaul triggered panic and fear which led to an overwhelming number of Americans flooding to stores and emptying shelves. Social media footage has captured long lines and empty shelves in stores all across America.

Despite the uptick in purchases, most states insist there is no shortage of food but companies are concerned about this becoming a problem later down the line if things continue due to the possibility of labor shortages.

The demand for necessities has been heightened that some stores around the globe have turned to designated hours for elderly and disabled customers to shop.
