Former President Bill Clinton is reflecting on his affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

In the four-hour Hulu docuseries about his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, he recalled the moment he decided to tell his wife and daughter, Chelsea, the truth. Initially, Bill Clinton denied having the affair but ultimately decided to come clean. He reflected on the emotional conversation he had with his wife admitting he felt “terrible about it.”

“I went and sat on the bed and talked to [Hillary],” he explained in the documentary. “I told her exactly what happened, when it happened. I said, ‘I feel terrible about it.’ I said, ‘We’ve been through quite a bit in the last few years. I have no defense. This is inexcusable, what I did.’”

While Bill Clinton did admit his actions were “inexcusable,” he did have an explanation for his actions. The former president went on to compare the stress of life in the White House to a “15-round prize fight.”

He said, “It’s … you feel like you’re staggering around. You’ve been in a 15-round prize fight that’s been extended to 30 rounds and here’s something that will take your mind off it for a while.”

Bill Clinton went on to discuss the pitfalls of life, “Everybody’s life has pressures and disappointments, terrors and fears of whatever. Things I did to manage my anxieties for years — I’m a totally different person than I was.”

The latest news about Bill Clinton’s recollection of the affair follows reports about his wife’s side of the story. For years, it was rumored that Hillary Clinton had thrown a lamp or bible at her husband, but she is rejecting those rumors.

On Thursday, when Hillary Clinton appeared on “Watch What Happens,” Andy Cohen asked again about that rumor to which she responded, “No, not that I haven’t thought about it. But no, I never have done it.”

The docuseries “Hillary” is streaming on Hulu on Friday.
