President Joe Biden’s attempt at celebrating lower gas prices is not going over well.

On Thursday, Biden posted on X, formerly Twitter, “Right now, the average driver in America is spending over $100 less than if gas prices had stayed at their peak.”

Right now, the average driver in America is spending over $100 less than if gas prices had stayed at their peak.

— President Biden (@POTUS) January 4, 2024

The post comes as AAA reports the average price for a gallon of gas sits at $3.09 per gallon, down from $3.26 a year ago.

In June 2022, the national average price for a gallon of gas hit $5.

However, the post did not go over well with users on X.

Gas prices peaked at an average of $5.06 per gallon under @POTUS – and prices STILL remain higher now than when he took office.

This is not an accomplishment, this is a slap in the face to hard working Americans struggling under Bidenomics. https://t.co/540IY3uMZO

$100 less per month? Per year? Per tank? This isn't even a slam, I just genuinely don't understand the tweet. https://t.co/RSiBajcWLk

While gas prices have seen a decline since 2022, there is a chance they could start to tick back up again as OPEC+ announced plans to cut the production of crude oil by 2 million barrels a day.
