Former Vice President Joe Biden is making a promise regarding the coronavirus pandemic if he is elected president in the upcoming election.

Biden made it clear that Dr. Anthony Fauci, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, will not be leaving if he becomes president. He vowed in a tweet on Tuesday, “I’ll call Dr. Fauci and ask him to stay on.”

“I promise you if I’m elected, I won’t waste any time getting this virus under control,” he also said.

He continued, “I’ll bring together top experts and leaders from both parties to chart a path forward. We’ll get it done, together.”

I promise you if I'm elected, I won't waste any time getting this virus under control.

I'll call Dr. Fauci and ask him to stay on. I'll bring together top experts and leaders from both parties to chart a path forward.

We'll get it done, together.

Fauci is the nation’s top infectious disease expert who has been advising on the pandemic, and has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984.

However, his role amid the coronavirus pandemic and recommendations to Americans has not been totally received well. He previously revealed that he has received “serious threats” against himself and his family.

Fauci has even come under fire from the president, including President Donald Trump reposting a tweet that accuses Fauci of “dismissing [hydroxychloroquine] and calling Remdesivir the new gold standard.” Fauci, however, brushed aside that retweet.

This comes despite the president’s previous remarks suggesting he has a “very good relationship with Dr. Fauci,” though he did admit at the time, “I find him to be a very nice person. I don’t always agree with him.”
