Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) is predicting President Donald Trump will try to push the presidential election back in order to increase his chances of winning.

“Mark my words, I think he is gonna try to kick back the election somehow, come up with some rationale why it can’t be held,” Biden said on Thursday. “That’s the only way he thinks he can possibly win.”

Biden is echoing his own sentiment as he has said delaying the election is not an option, as IJR previously reported.

“The idea of postponing an election is not possible, it should not happen,” Biden said.

His comments come as primaries have been delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Biden has been critical of Trump’s response to the pandemic in the past.

He tweeted, “The President needs to stop blaming others and do his job.”

Biden has also encouraged Democrats to consider other ways to approach the election as the coronavirus has made it difficult to campaign.

Although the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has pushed the nominating convention back to the week of August 17, Biden is still adamant there needs to be a convention, as IJR previously reported.

“Well, we’re going to have to do a convention, may have to do a virtual convention,” Biden said. “We may not be able to put 10, 20, 30,000 people in one place and that’s very possible.”

Biden became the presumptive Democratic nominee after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) suspended his campaign and endorsed Biden. He managed to garner more delegates and endorsements after a rough start to his campaign.

More recently, he received endorsements from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), and former President Barack Obama (D).

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has also said she will be voting for Biden after campaigning for Sanders.

Biden has been on the search for a running mate and he has pledged to select a woman to join his ticket.
