Days after agreeing to plead guilty to multiple federal charges, Hunter Biden was seen attending a state dinner at the White House.

On Thursday, video showed Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, smiling and mingling at the state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A court filing on Tuesday showed Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax.

He will also plead guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

According to The Hill, if a judge accepts the plea deal, he would likely avoid prison time.

Hunter Biden’s guilty plea comes after, as reports have indicated, five years of an investigation.

The Wall Street Journal notes the guilty plea will avoid a trial as his father is running for re-election.

White House Counsel Office spokesman Ian Sams told reporters about the news, “The president and first lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life.”

Republicans claim Hunter Biden got a “sweetheart” deal. However, legal analysts have argued it was not an unusual agreement.

On Thursday, the House Ways and Means Committee released whistleblower testimony with allegations of political interference in his case.

Politico noted Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges. However, the documents allege the IRS recommended charging him with attempting to evade or defeat tax and fraud or false statement, which would have been felonies.

The whistleblowers also claim the Justice Department slow-walked the investigation.

A spokesperson for the Justice Department pushed back on the claim the U.S. attorney overseeing the case did not have full control over the investigation.
