President-elect Joe Biden says he has decided who he will nominate to be his Treasury secretary.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Biden laid out his timeline for when he would announce the pick.

“You’ll soon hear my choice for Treasury, we’ve made that decision. And you’ll hear that either just before or just after Thanksgiving,” he said.

He added, “And you’ll find it is someone who I think will be accepted by all elements of the Democratic Party, from the progressive to the moderate coalitions.”

The former vice president has reportedly considered Federal Reserve governor Lael Brainard, former Fed governor Roger Ferguson, and former Fed Chair Janet Yellen for the post.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) planned on lobbying Biden for the post. Sources close to Warren told Politico, “She wants it.”

While nominating Warren for the position would likely satisfy progressive members of the Democratic Party, her Senate seat would be filled at least temporarily by Massachusetts’ Republican governor.

Additionally, if Democrats fail to win two run-off elections for Georgia’s Senate seats, it would likely be an uphill climb to get her nomination approved in the Republican-controlled Senate.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) underscored the resistance Biden’s nominees are likely to face, “Mitch McConnell will force Joe Biden to negotiate every single cabinet secretary, every single district court judge, every single US attorney with him.”

“My guess is we’ll have a constitutional crisis pretty immediately,” he added.
