President Joe Biden made a mistake when it came to speaking about one of his favorite talking points ever: the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

During a speech in Arizona Thursday, Biden spoke about threats to democracy.

“I’ve made the defense and protection and preservation of American democracy the central issue of my presidency,” he said.

He went on, “From the speech I made at Gettysburg and inaugural address to the June 6th insurrection — I’m sorry, Jan. 6 insurrection.”

Biden did catch himself, which is good.

But is he straining so hard to read the teleprompter that he can’t even think about the words that are supposed to be coming out of his mouth?

Granted, it’s not as though Biden is sitting down to personally write every single speech he gives. Still, how many times have we heard him talk about Jan. 6 since it happened?

If you were to just take every single time he has said the words “January 6,” you could probably fill a small book.

It is not as though this is some obscure reference for him. Yet apparently he saw “J” and “n” and six and thought, “June!”

Former President Donald Trump was notoriously not the best at reading the teleprompter either. However, he usually just sounded bored and like he was trying to get through the carefully written speeches so he could move to riff on whatever he wanted.

Biden seems like he’s just trying to make it through the next letter — not even word — regardless of whether what he’s saying is even a coherent sentence.
