President Joe Biden’s approval rating is still going in the wrong direction for him with less than a year until the 2024 election.

On Wednesday, a CNN/SSRS poll found just 37% of Americans approve of Biden’s job performance while 63% disapprove.

CNN political director David Chalian showed a graph of the president’s approval rating, which showed it began to drop after the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Biden did see an uptick around the 2022 midterm elections, however, his approval rating then continued its “downward slide to this new numeric low of 37%.”

Chalian pointed out Biden’s approval rating is lower than any of his predecessors going back to Jimmy Carter at this point in their presidencies.

He then pointed out former President Donald Trump’s approval rating in 2019 and Carter’s in 1979 and added, “What do they all have in common? They didn’t win their re-election race.”

“This is a real warning sign for President Joe Biden,” Chalian said.

The poll comes after Biden shared his motivation for running for re-election.

Fox News reported Tuesday that Biden told donors, “If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running.”

“But we cannot let him win,” he reportedly added.

While he was returning to the White House, a reporter asked the president, “Would you be running for president if Trump wasn’t running?”

“I expect so. But look, he is running and I have to run,” Biden responded.

However, he implied he would not drop out if Trump did.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Biden stated he did not believe he is the only Democrat who can beat Trump, but added, “I will beat him.”
