President-elect Joe Biden told reporters he has not spoken to Dr. Anthony Fauci personally, but his staff has.
“He’s been very, very helpful,” Biden said.

In an interview with NBC News that aired on Tuesday night, Biden explained they are planning to meet with the coronavirus task force in the White House.
“We’re already working out meeting with the Covid team in the White House and how to not only distribute but get from a vaccine being distributed to a person able to get vaccinated, so I think we’re gonna not be so far behind the curve as we thought might be in the past,” Biden said.
Biden is moving forward after the Trump administration gave the go-ahead for his transition.
The former vice president announced the members of his coronavirus task force earlier this month.
The three co-chairs of his task force include former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, former Food and Drug Administration commissioner David Kessler, and associate dean for health equity research at the Yale School of Medicine Marcella Nunez-Smith.
Biden unveiled his foreign policy and national security team on Tuesday, as IJR previously reported.
His team includes Antony Blinken as his secretary of state nominee, Jake Sullivan as national security adviser, Linda Thomas-Greenfield as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Alejandro Mayorkas as secretary of homeland security, and John Kerry for envoy on climate.
“It’s a team that reflects the fact that America is back, ready to lead the world, not retreat from it, once again sit at the head of the table, ready to confront our adversaries and not reject our allies, ready to stand up for our values,” Biden said.
Kerry took to Twitter to react to the opportunity, as IJR previously reported.
“America will soon have a government that treats the climate crisis as the urgent national security threat it is,” Kerry said.
He added, “I’m proud to partner with the President-elect, our allies, and the young leaders of the climate movement to take on this crisis as the President’s Climate Envoy.”
