Watch: Biden Tries to Deflect Concerns About His Age by Attacking Trump’s Memory

Facing revelations about his apparently severe memory issues, President Joe Biden has decided to keep the issue alive by suggesting his main opponent’s memory is worse.

Since he can’t face serious questions without saying something outlandish, appearing to alter U.S. policy, or struggling to speak, he returned to his safe space of late night TV to try to show he’s not hiding in the basement.

And for whatever it’s worth, late night host Seth Meyers did not entirely ignore the big question facing the president as he said, “This isn’t a gotch-ya show but I do want to ask you about it… You are currently 81-years-old… All jokes aside, according to recent polling, this is a real concern for American voters.”

“How do you address that concern going forward as you come up to the 2024 election?” he asked.

Biden apparently realized he can’t resort to whispering, “Watch me” while he waves on attention as it has backfired massively.

So instead, he decided to attack former President Donald Trump, whom he did not mention by name — whether he forgot it was unclear.

“Well, a couple things,” Biden began. “Number one, you got to take a look at the other guy. He’s about as old as I am, but he can’t remember his wife’s name.”

He appeared to refer to a moment during Trump’s speech when he called his wife, Melania Trump, Mercedes. But this is a poor attack as Biden confused his sister and his wife during his victory speech after the 2020 Super Tuesday primary. So maybe don’t go there.

Biden went on:

“It’s about how old your ideas are. Look, I mean, this is a guy who wants to take his back… he wants to take us back in Roe v Wade. He wants to take us back on a whole range of issues that are 50, 60 years. They’ve been solid American positions.”

Finally, Biden said, “I think it’s about, about the future and everything, every single thing we’ve done, I think we’ve got some good things done everything. And they told us we couldn’t get them done because things were so divided. And, but I think everything’s everything we’ve gotten done. He’s just finally stated he wants to do away with you, gets elected. And I really think his views on where to take America are older than… anyway…”

Now, Biden can attack Trump for his gaffes all he wants. But as a reminder, let us just read from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s assessment of Biden’s memory, “In his interview with our office, Mr. Biden’s memory was worse. He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (‘if it was 2013 – when did I stop being Vice President?’), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (‘in 2009, am I still Vice President?’)”

“He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died. And his memory appeared hazy when describing the Afghanistan debate that was once so important to him. Among other things, he mistakenly said he ‘had a real difference’ of opinion with General Karl Eikenberry, when, in fact, Eikenberry was an ally whom Mr. Biden cited approvingly in his Thanksgiving memo to President Obama,” the report added.

It’s not just about how old a candidate’s ideas are. A candidate can have the newest, freshest ideas, but if they can’t walk or speak or remember key details of their life, that’s kind of a big deal.

What else would Biden say when asked about his age? Just admit he’s too old? Of course, he’s going to attack Trump’s age. And there is plenty of content to make people question Trump’s age, such as when he said former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley didn’t secure the Capitol on Jan. 6. when he meant former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Any voter should assess whether they think Trump has lost a step since he is approaching 80.

But the fact remains, a federal prosecutor determined Biden’s memory is so bad he could not be prosecuted. There’s just no coming back from that — at least there shouldn’t be — if you’re trying to run for president again.

While he may have thought he had a real zinger to attack Trump with, his staff must have been screaming their lungs out at the fact he just went on TV to talk about memory issues and revived a brutal issue for them. Perhaps he forgot about the Hur report.
