President Joe Biden’s aides are reportedly worried a special counsel investigation could damage his re-election bid.

On Sunday, Axios reported the concerns surrounding Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into his handling of classified documents.

“Biden aides don’t expect criminal charges in the case, but they believe Hur’s report will include embarrassing details — possibly with photos — on how Biden stored documents,” according to the outlet.

The report comes amid an investigation into classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president that were found in various locations, including the garage of his Delaware home.

Axios notes the president’s aides believe former President Donald Trump will seek to use the investigation into the current president’s handling of documents to compare to the criminal charges he is facing

Biden sat for an interview with Hur late last year. And the Associated Press notes it “signals that a sprawling investigation that has included questioning of some of his closest aides and at least one cabinet member is nearing a conclusion.”

The president’s aides reportedly believe a report from the investigation could be delivered as early as this week.

And even though they do not believe there will be criminal charges, Axios points out, “Biden aides expect the report’s details to be politically damaging.”

“Any photos of those storage practices could cause a political storm similar to what happened after the release of photos of Trump storing documents at Mar-a-Lago, including in a bathroom,” it added.

Last year, Fox News’ Peter Doocy grilled Biden on keeping “classified materials next to your Corvette.”

“By the way, my Corvette’s in a locked garage, OK? So it’s not like they’re sitting out in the street,” he responded.

In case you missed it:

Doocy: "Classified materials next to your corvette? What were you thinking?

Biden: "My corvette is in a locked garage."

He went on, “People know I take classified documents and classified material seriously. I also said we’re cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department’s review.”
