Former Vice President Joe Biden is not attributing the uptick in President Donald Trump’s approval rating to his performance.
“Well I think that’s a typical American response,” Biden said, adding, “In every single crisis we have had … president’s ratings have always gone up in a crisis.”
Biden claimed that the proof “is going to be in the pudding.”
He expressed his hopes for where the country will be by the fall and the president’s response to the crisis.

Biden called on Trump to place more of his focus on the outbreak.
“Let’s get away from the childishness of this and focus on the problem,” Biden said.
Trump’s approval rating has reached the highest of his presidency thus far, as IJR previously reported. According to a Gallup poll, Trump’s approval rating stands at 49% as of Sunday.
An ABC News poll found that 51% approved of Trump’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The conversation between MSNBC’s Chuck Todd and Biden pivoted to what Biden would be doing differently if he was president.
The first thing he said he would do is to use the Defense Production Act in order to provide more resources to health care personnel.
The act allows the government to “accelerate production of needed equipment,” as IJR previously reported.
He explained he would use the act for resources beyond ventilators.
“I would do the same thing for masks and gowns … and all the things our first responders and doctors and nurses need. Why are we waiting?” Biden said. (00:00:24)
