Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is calling President Donald Trump out for furthering the spread of COVID-19 by holding rallies and large gatherings.

“It was as if he decided to go on offense for the virus. Holding rallies with no masks, no social distancing, where people contracted the virus. Inviting the virus into the White House. Hosting what Dr. Fauci called ‘superspreader’ event,” Biden said while delivering remarks in Delaware.

He went on, “Endangering more people’s lives by telling the public, ‘Don’t worry, don’t worry about the disease, don’t let it dominate you.'”

Biden mentioned a woman who said her father voted for Trump, listened to him, and believed him when he said the coronavirus was not a big deal.

The woman’s father became infected with the coronavirus and later died.

She claimed her father’s only preexisting condition was “trusting Donald Trump.”

“Even after contracting the virus himself, Donald Trump still, still refuses to promote universal mask-wearing, which could have saved nearly 100,000 lives and could still save over 100,000 lives in the next few months,” Biden said. “The longer Donald Trump is president, the more reckless he gets.”

Trump sparred with Biden over his handling of the pandemic during Thursday night’s presidential debate, as IJR previously reported.

The president explained Americans are “learning to live” with COVID-19 because “we can’t lock ourselves up in a basement.”

“People can’t do that,” he said.

Biden fired back, “He says that we’re learning to live with it. People are learning to die with it. You folks home who have an empty chair at the kitchen table this morning, that man or wife going to bed tonight and reaching over to try to touch out of habit where their wife or husband was is gone.”

He added, “Learning to live with it? Come on. We’re dying with it.”
