Beloved Rhode Island TV Judge Frank Caprio, known for his compassion in the courtroom, asked for prayers after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
On Wednesday, Caprio, who is the star of the reality show “Caught in Providence,” 87, posted the emotional announcement on his Instagram page. He explained that he wasn’t “feeling well” around the time of his birthday, which he called “one of the happiest days of the year” for him.
After getting a medical examination, the retired Providence Municipal Court judge revealed “the report was not a good one.”
“I have been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas, which is an insidious form of cancer,” he shared.
According to Cleveland Clinic, symptoms of pancreatic cancer include fatigue, nausea, bloating, jaundice and lack of appetite.
He told his viewers that he was “being treated by a wonderful team of doctors” in Rhode Island and at Boston’s Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
“I pray that God guides their thoughts and their hands in their treatment of me,” Caprio added.
Caprio acknowledged this would be “a long road” but said that he’s “fully prepared to fight as hard as I can.”

He tearfully pleaded for his fans to pray for him as he fights the disease.
“I would ask each of you, in your own way, to please pray for me. I am in need of the power of prayer, which I believe in addition to the medical treatment that I am receiving is the most powerful weapon to help me survive this,” he said.
Caprio continued, “Just knowing that you were keeping me in your thoughts means the world to me. So thank you for all your past messages. Thank you for your loving support. And please remember, just a small prayer, I’d really appreciate it.”
