Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), who is rumored to be on the short list for former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate, is weighing in on who she believes would be a good fit for the position.

Co-host of “The View” Sunny Hostin noted Biden said this week there are four Black women he is considering for his vice presidential pick and asked Bass for her thoughts on the matter.

Bass told Hostin she hopes she will see a Black woman on the ticket and is confident Biden will make the right decision.

“I would love to see that. I heard that too, about the four women, I would love to see that,” Bass said.

She added, “But, you know, at the end of the day who knows better who to choose to be the vice president than a former vice president.”

Bass said she would like to see the relationship between Biden and his running mate be comparable to the relationship Biden had with former President Barack Obama. (00:02:12)

She described the ideal running mate as someone who will be willing to work with Biden as a “good partner” and someone who is willing to take on the challenges the nation is facing.

Bass acknowledged the racial divide as one of the biggest challenges the United States is currently struggling with and claimed President Donald Trump has attacked every ethnic group.

Co-host Meghan McCain asked Bass if there is any truth to the rumor she is on the short list to be Biden’s running mate and whether she is being vetted.

“You know we’ll refer those to the campaign, I wish I could be more forthcoming,” Bass said.

According to Bass, she is willing to do whatever it takes to get Biden elected and to make sure his presidency is a success.

Biden expects to see the background vetting process conclude around July 24, as IJR previously reported.

He will then interview each finalist and is expected to make a decision by early August.
