Angel Grace Lnu has been adopted by a Florida couple less than a year after she was abandoned in the woods after being born.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office shared the happy news on Facebook Thursday. The post stated, “Nearly one year ago, on January 28th, at about 1:47 in the morning, PCSO deputies rescued an abandoned newborn baby girl in Mulberry.”

The office detailed, “The temperature outside was in the lower 50s, and members of Polk County Fire Rescue checked the girl out and determined that, based on the girl’s temperature, she had been born about an hour before she was found.”

“Fortunately, a nearby resident heard the baby girl’s cries, and called 911,” the sheriff’s office continued.

The post noted that despite extensive efforts, the baby’s mother was never found.

Then the sheriff’s office stated, “Fast forward ten months and one day–the baby girl has officially been adopted.”

“We are thrilled to share with you these photos from this morning of this precious angel with her new mom and dad, along with PCSO’s Detective Green and Sgt. Ryan,” they added, noting the parents do not wish for their names to be published.

This concludes a long family journey for the baby that was documented from the start by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Its original news release detailed the situation and included a statement from Sheriff Grady Judd.

He said, “It was by the Grace of God that we found the abandoned baby girl when we did, before exposure to the cold or any animals caused her any harm. She was left in an extremely vulnerable condition, but she’s a strong little girl, and it looks like she’s doing great.”

Judd also noted in a video posted by the Polk Sheriff’s Office why he gave her the name Angel Grace Lnu.

“She’s as beautiful as an angel, it’s by the grace of God that she is not dead, and Lnu is last name unknown,” he said.

According to Fox News, Florida mothers are protected under a Safe Haven Law, which allows mothers to leave their newborns at any of various baby drop-off locations, no questions asked.

Every state has some form of Safe Haven Law, per USA Today, and Safe Haven Baby Boxes is an organization that has set up drop-off locations across the nation to ensure that newborns are not abandoned in dangerous areas.
