New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is suggesting President Donald Trump’s coronavirus briefings are not very helpful to governors.

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski asked Cuomo if he had a chance to watch Trump’s latest press briefing and if it would be of value to governors.

“No, a governor should not watch that,” Cuomo said. “There’s no value in it. It is infuriating and offensive and frankly ignorant of the facts.”

Watch his comments below:

Cuomo pointed to Trump’s claim he has “total” authority over states and their decisions amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Trump made the claim during an exchange with a reporter, as IJR previously reported.

Cuomo responded to Trump’s assertion, “We have a Constitution, we don’t have a king. We have an elected president.”

He reiterated his position explaining Trump’s claim is ironic.

“To hear a Republican stand up there, by the way, and argue big government and total authority of the federal government is somewhat amusing,” Cuomo said. “You know if it wasn’t so serious it would be funny, all of this, it could be a comedy skit.”

Although Cuomo and Trump have criticized each other in the past, Cuomo has agreed to compromise to find solutions to the issue at hand.

Cuomo explained how he is willing to work with Trump to bridge the gap between the federal government and states to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus, as IJR previously reported.

He also has offered some praise to Trump for being “very helpful” to New York.

Cuomo discussed the seriousness of the coronavirus and how there is no time for “crazy politics.”

“It’s frightening, it’s frightening. This is the last place we should be,” Cuomo said. “This crazy politics, this absurd positioning, when we’re talking about life and death.”

New York has become the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. As of Tuesday afternoon, the state is reporting more than 195,000 coronavirus cases, with up to 10,056 deaths.
