Amazon Driver Shovels Snow for Customer in Wheelchair

An Ohio Amazon delivery driver is being praised for anonymously shoveling snow for a customer while on the job.

According to ABC News 5 Cleveland, Don Wheeler of Mentor, Ohio, was helped out by a stranger during a snowstorm last week. He noted, “I got a message saying my package was the next delivery.”

“I was getting ready to come up and shovel, and I was like, well, maybe I’ll meet the guy outside,” said Wheeler, who is in a wheelchair.

Then he noted, “I started hearing noises of somebody shoveling. I was like, is somebody shoveling my ramp? I looked out the window and it was the Amazon driver.”

Wheeler went out to thank the driver, but the Amazon delivery man just smiled and finished the job before heading back on his route. 

“He didn’t give me a name. He didn’t give me, ‘Hey, post me on this so I can get the likes.’ It was purely from the heart,” Wheeler said. 

Wheeler is no stranger to shoveling snow despite his disability. He explained, “There’s always a challenge when you got a life in a wheelchair full time, but I always love a challenge.”

That challenge is most often a necessity for Wheeler who became paralyzed after a bike accident 20 years ago. Wheeler said, “There’s many times when I’m out here for those hours, plow trucks will drive, by people walk by with snow plows, neighbors will watch me. Nobody will walk up and help.”

“My heart wants to cry with joy. It does mean an awful lot. See, I’m getting emotional about it,” he continued. 

Wheeler stated that he hopes to find the Amazon driver and make sure he knows what his good deed means. 

“The world is changing, and it’s changing fast. So, little deeds like this need to be brought forward to bring humanity back to normalcy. So God bless the kid, the gentleman, for doing it out of the kindness of his heart,” he added. 

Wheeler took to Facebook to express his gratitude.

“How often do you see a perfect stranger doing a good deed? So I apologize if some of your packages were late today,” Wheeler wrote.
