Actor Ben Savage, known for his role on the hit show “Boy Meets World,” is hoping to run for Rep. Adam Schiff’s (D-Calif.) seat, per reporting.

Rob Pyers of California Target Book tweeted, “Boy Meets World actor and unsuccessful 2022 candidate for West Hollywood city council Ben Savage is the latest candidate to file for the Adam Schiff [CA 30] seat.”

Pyers shared a screenshot of the paperwork filed by Savage.

Savage ran to hold a position on the L.A. City Council in November.

He explained on the website, “I have been very fortunate to live in West Hollywood for the past 18 years. I have seen this city grow to become one of the most thriving cities in the country – with extraordinary restaurants, hotels, nightlife and culture. WeHo has a hard-working, vibrant workforce, a thriving small and local business community, and endless opportunities for investment and growth.”

Savage argued at the time residents have “become disappointed with the direction the city is heading.”

He continued, “Residents and community leaders have expressed frustration with the political divisiveness and loss of a sense of community. People are eager for leaders who can talk to each other, build coalitions, work together on common sense policies and put the interests of the city and residents above their own.”

The actor said he was running because “there are serious challenges ahead and West Hollywood deserves sensible, honest and strong leadership to face them.”

The website mentions challenges the city is facing, including public safety, struggling businesses, inflation and the cost of housing.

Concluding the message, Savage said, “I want to see a safe and thriving West Hollywood that embraces the diversity of identity, faith and experience that makes us who we are. Together, we can help West Hollywood become the best it can be.”

However, Savage was unsuccessful with his attempt as he came in seventh place, receiving only 6.32% of support.

Last month, Politico noted Schiff has previously said he is exploring the possibility of running for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) seat if she chooses not to run for reelection.

Schiff reportedly met with Feinstein to share his intentions with her, two people familiar with the exchange told Politico.
