Conservative radio host Dana Loesch called out Democrat pundits for their “rich” vocal criticism of their party’s leadership Thursday evening on Fox News, saying they should’ve heeded Democratic strategist James Carville’s early warnings.

During both former President Joe Biden’s and former Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaigns, Democrats pushed their party’s leaders despite voters’ lack of connection to the party as the campaigns progressed. On “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Loesch called out CNN’s David Axelrod for his Monday interview with PBS’ Evan Smith, in which Axelrod asked whether history “will be kind” to how Harris ran her campaign.

“I think I said a decade ago that people on the right, that’s the new punk rock. It’s very against the grain, very against mainstream, which is apparently [to] let Uncle Sam control your life. I have to say, too, when you play the audio of David Axelrod talking, he acts like the soothsayer, you know? He’s looking back, and he’s saying all these things trying to sound very wise,” Loesch said.

“David Axelrod was part of this. I mean, he was part of the Obama administration. They guided that administration into setting the stage for what Democrats have become today,” Loesch added. “So it’s incredibly rich for a lot of these people to make these remarks now because they’re safe, right? It doesn’t cost them anything to do it now.”

Throughout Harris’ campaign, Axelrod questioned the former vice president’s responses to critical issues such as the economy and whether she would have changed anything over the last four years while serving alongside Biden. However, the pundit notably defended her at times, sparring with CNN’s Scott Jennings when trying to defend her flip-flopping on policy changes.

WATCH:

Before Harris, Democrats had defended Biden despite Republicans consistently raising concerns over his mental fitness, with former press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre downplaying those concerns. During a June 2024 briefing, Jean-Pierre labeled videos of Biden appearing confused or stumbling over his words as “cheap fakes” created by Republicans.

However, following Biden’s disastrous debate against President Donald Trump, calls for the president to withdraw from the race quickly spread throughout the party, with dozens of Democratic lawmakers publicly requesting that Biden step aside.

Loesch went on to say that the party should have listened to Carville’s “wake up call,” adding that Democrat voters have left the party due to their “insanity.”

“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ll give credit where due. I honestly think that James Carville was the only one who was trying to send a wake up call to these people. But they didn’t pay attention to him because the party Democrats, they allowed the people that they used as their agitators for ‘Get Out the Vote,’” Loesch said. “They enshrined them within the Democrat Party and adopted all of their insanity as part of their platform.”

“So if they’re looking where all their Democrat voters are culturally or at the ballot box, they left. They registered as independents or they went and voted for Trump because the right has learned how to build a coalition. That’s what people like,” Loesch added. “They don’t want to have to forfeit everything that they know to be true just to cast a vote for an elected official or somebody like Kamala Harris, who is the person that they got to jump on the landmine of this losing election for them. I don’t really feel a lot of pity for them. I don’t.”

While Carville had still predicted Harris would win, one of his final warnings to the party came in August 2024, just two months before Election Day, when he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the party needed to stop being “giddy” about Harris’ chances of winning, as Trump had a history of outperforming in polls.

Post-election polls showed Harris not only earned 7 million fewer votes than Biden in the 2020 race but also failed to match Trump’s gains, falling short in three of the seven key swing states and in 80% of counties nationwide, according to The New York Times.
