Libertarian strategist Tim Miller called out the “over the top” praise of “vigilante murder” on Tuesday during his podcast, just a day after he made comments about how “attractive” UnitedHealthcare CEO’s alleged assassin looked.

Since authorities arrested 26-year-old Luigi Mangione on Monday, political pundits and online users have repeatedly commented on the Maryland native’s looks, with some remarking how “hot” he appears. On “The Bulwark,” Miller, the host of the show, began by saying that the blame for Mangione’s alleged actions has led to the romanticization of him online.

“I think that all this radicalization talk is just simply [a] fancy excuse making for people who are living in decadent times. It is creating an environment that gives people a rationalization for defending horrible actions or for acting horribly or for voting for somebody that they know is bad,” Miller said.

“In some cases, it even romanticizes horrible actions as being part of some existential good. We’ve seen this in the case of Mangione,” Miller added. “I want to push back against this, beginning with Luigi.”

Miller went on to question whether Mangione could have possibly suffered from a “psychotic break,” highlighting how the 26-year-old’s newly released manifesto showed his opposition to the health insurance industry and revealed he had suffered from a serious back injury.

“His Goodreads account, as I said, indicates he was kind of searching for solutions for this pain. It kind of doesn’t matter really how bad his pain was in the context of radicalizations, because in a world where people are putting out everything as romantic super cuts about a killer because he’s got abs and trauma, then that gives everyone a rationale to kill,” Miller said.

“That gives everyone the opportunity to feel like they can become famous if they kill. I mean, have you seen these things? It is way over the top, and it is leading us to a very bad place,” Miller said. “This is not a world that we want to live in, where you get to rationalize your pain, your trauma, the bad experiences of your life into vigilante murder.”

Miller’s comments came a day after he appeared on another episode of “The Bulwark” with co-host Sam Stein, where Miller discussed how attractive Mangione appeared as social media photos from his account circulated following his arrest.

“There’s a lot to unpack here, including his six-pack, would be among the things you need to unpack,” Miller said. “He’s a very attractive man, and there are a lot of texts about that … He’s blowing up on the gay group chats. The gay group chats are on fire right now.”

“I’ve received several texts from people trying to get me to admit that I am attracted to the shooter. I have to just say, not exactly my type,” Miller added. “I mean, objectively handsome. Not exactly my type, yeah. In that category, the Boston Marathon bomber was a little bit more my wheelhouse.”

Along with online users, some on Etsy, an e-commerce platform, have begun selling shirts, cups, and Christmas ornaments featuring an image likened to Mangione. The 26-year-old was arrested Monday in Pennsylvania and will remain in the custody of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections while he challenges his extradition to New York City.
