Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are tied in the state of Pennsylvania, the swing state with the largest electoral count, according to a Marist poll released Thursday.

Trump and Harris tied at 49% in Pennsylvania, with the Republican nominee holding a four point edge over the Vice President among independent voters, according to the poll. Winning Pennsylvania could be particularly consequential as it has the largest electoral count across all seven swing states with 19 electors.

President Joe Biden, Trump and former President Barack Obama all secured their electoral victories with the help of Pennsylvania’s electoral votes.

Across all seven battleground states, Harris has a polling advantage of just 0.1 points, according to RealClearPolling averages. In Pennsylvania, Harris’ holds a slightly larger lead over Trump at 0.7 points, according to RCP.

Trump is leading with 54% support among men while Harris trails at just 44%, according to the Marist poll. The trend is reversed among women, as Harris is leading at 55% as Trump is polling at just 43%.

Trump also leads among white voters with 51% and 48% support respectively, according to the poll. Across nonwhite voters, Harris is leading by 59% while Trump is polling at 38%.

This gender and race divide between Trump and Harris is reflected in exit polls from the 2020 presidential election.

Last election cycle, Trump led Biden among white voters and male voters, with 58% and 53% of each respective group supporting the Republican nominee, according to the Roper Center.

The Roper Center is a public opinion research center at Cornell University which archives social science data and public opinion surveys.

Biden led Trump across nonwhite demographics, with 87% of African American voters, 65% of Hispanic voters and 61% of Asian voters preferring the former Vice President, according to the Roper Center. Among women, Biden also led the former president with 57% support while Trump garnered 42% support.

While the race is close in Pennsylvania, Harris’ poll numbers are a bit rosier across the rest of the Rust Belt.

Harris held a narrow lead at 50% in Wisconsin while Trump polled at 49% support, according to the poll. In Michigan, 52% of likely voters supported Harris while 47% favored the former president.

The Marist poll surveyed 1,354 adults from Sept. 12 to Sept. 17 with a margin of error of 3.1 points.
