Madonna asked a concert-goer why that person was not standing at one of her concerts recently.

It turned out the person had a good excuse — the person was in a wheelchair.

“What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you doing sitting down?” Madonna, 65, asked, per People.

When she saw the person was in a wheelchair, she apologized.

“Oh, OK. Politically incorrect,” she said. “Sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.”

The incident occurred during Madonna’s Celebration Tour stop at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on March 9.

Madonna then faced backlash when video footage of the incident made its rounds on social media.

I’m a wheelchair user. Rapper Lupe Fiasco saw me sitting in a standing-room-only concert and looked confused. He let me pick his last song of the night, dedicated Superstar to me, and we took pics together. That’s the difference between an artist and what Madonna is—ableist trash https://t.co/L9oz2N0oJZ pic.twitter.com/KydwDc3c3O

madonna was insane for telling a wheelchair user to stand up for her songs 😭 https://t.co/Rfhd6vTMbq

#Madonna asks a fan why he's the only one sitting. He's in a wheelchair 🤡

She did apologize, but a lesson in minding your own business. pic.twitter.com/yE07jgh73D

Someone needs to tell Madonna to retire.

Madonna was excoriated online for asking a wheelchair-ridden fan why they weren't standing at her concert.

Later in the concert, Madonna was joined onstage by Aussie singer Kylie Minogue.

“Her name is Kylie Minogue,” she told the crowd, People reported. “Now this is what we call a survivor, OK?”

They performed a cover of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” as well as a rendition of Minogue’s hit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” according to People.
