It was bound to happen. When “Saturday Night Live” hit the stage Saturday night, its focus was on Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala.

Britt have the GOP’s response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Thursday night.

The 42-year-old senator gave an impassioned speech from her kitchen. Many Republicans and Democrats alike questioned her delivery likening it to an audition for a school play, the IJR previously reported.

She called Biden a “dithering and diminished leader” and said “Americans are fearful about record immigration and anxious about the state of the economy,” according to NPR.

But as the NPR reported, actress Scarlett Johansson took to the stage on the sketch comedy show where she did a parady of Britt.

“I have the honor of serving the great people of Alabama, but tonight I’ll be auditioning for the part of scary mom,” Johansson said. “And I’ll be performing an original monologue called: This Country is Hell.”

Johansson mimicked Britt’s tone of voice in a spot-on imitation.

“Kitchens are where families have the hard conversations, like the one we’ll have tomorrow about how mommy freaked out the entire country,” she said.

The task of giving the response to the SOTU can either bring glory or shame to whomever is giving it.

“In 2009, political analysts panned former Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal’s reply to President Obama’s first State of the Union address,” according to NPR.

But others who have given the rebuttal — former Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton and former Delaware Sen. Joe Biden — ended up doing the SOTU themselves when they became president.

Johansson is married to Colin Jost, co-anchor of Weekend Update at “SNL.”
