President Joe Biden is raising eyebrows over what he claimed he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

After his State of the Union address, Biden was caught on a hot mic talking about Israel’s war against Hamas.

“I told him, Bibi, and don’t repeat this, but you and I are going to have a ‘come to Jesus’ meeting,” the president said.

He added, “I’m on a hot mic here. Good. That’s good.”

Several commentators noted Netanyahu is Jewish and mocked Biden for his wording:

Telling Jews to come to Jesus is A+ diplomacy. https://t.co/raHHjyo75f

Well that certainly would have reassured the Prime Minister of the world's only Jewish state. https://t.co/Dhdrl1gDFg

Just imagine if George W. Bush were to tell the Israeli leader that they were going to have a "come to Jesus' meeting"? It would be all over the media, comedy, etc. The double standard is alive and strong. https://t.co/HAUusLSRAk

Saying you’re going to have a “come to Jesus meeting” with a Jew is WILD 😂 https://t.co/RnSsOzbmq5

WTF. Who says that to the leader of the world's only Jewish state? https://t.co/yQasIw6a0V

Can’t wait for the update on how this goes! https://t.co/QKgty0gLTZ

During his speech, Biden said Israel has an “added burden” in how it conducts it war against Hamas because it “hides and operates among the civilian population like cowards — under hospitals, day care centers and all the like. There’s also a fundamental responsibility, though, to protect innocent civilians in Gaza.”
