Pour one out for Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, she seems to be taking news from the nation’s highest court very hard.

On Monday, Griswold went on MSNBC to discuss a major Supreme Court ruling that returned former President Donald Trump to the ballot.

“My larger reaction is disappointment,” she said. “I do believe that states should be able, under our Constitution, to bar oath breaking insurrectionists. And ultimately, this decision leaves open the door for Congress to act… but we know that Congress is nearly a non-functioning body.”

Griswold added somewhat despondently, “So ultimately, it will be up to the American voters to save our democracy.”

X user Greg Price shared the moment on the platform and suggest it “looks like she’s about to cry on MSNBC.”

On Monday morning, the Supreme Court handed down a massive 9-0 decision overturning Colorado’s Supreme Court’s ruling that kicked Trump off the ballot.

In December, Colorado’s Supreme Court ruled Trump is ineligible to hold office again, citing the clause of the 14th Amendment that prohibits individuals who engaged in an insurrection after taking an oath to uphold the Constitution from holding office again.

But in an unsigned ruling, the nation’s highest court said it is up to Congress to enforce that clause, writing, “Because the Constitution makes Congress, rather than the States, responsible for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates, we reverse.”

Enjoy the meltdown while it lasts as liberals yell about Justice Clarence Thomas and ignore the fact that even if he refused himself from the case, the outcome likely would have been the same as even Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson — who was appointed by President Joe Biden — voted to restore Trump to the ballot.

This unanimous decision pulls the rug out from under liberals who would like to claim it was just some MAGA-fied Supreme Court that helped Trump out.

To a certain extent, Griswold’s distress is understandable. Democracy is not an inherent or highest good. Voters make mistakes and poor decisions at times based on majoritarian impulses. Just crack open a history book to see examples over voters giving into their fears or base impulses and giving power to tyrants. And there are reasons to be skeptical of majoritarian impulses, conservatives understand this well when it comes to moral issues.

However, the freak out over people being able to vote for Trump is ridiculous. We survived four years without him destroying democracy — despite all the fear mongering in the process. And there’s no reason to think he would do so in a second term.

It is also disingenuous as part of the blame for Trump being resurgent belongs to Democrats. They chose to go absolutely crazy and to try to foist ridiculous far Left policies on America to transform it into some progressive dream, which has turned out to be an unmitigated disaster as inflation sent prices skyrocketing, the border is a mess millions of people pouring in, and the world is on fire — a dramatic turn from the years of peace just a few years ago under the former president.

They brought this on themselves. Had Democrats woken up the reality Biden is simply too old for the job and too unpopular, and found a moderate Democrat — even though such politicians seem to be near-extinction — perhaps they would not be in this situation.

Instead, they chose to buy into the “Dark Brandon” mythology and hope some deus ex machina would just resolve the issue of Trump’s candidacy. As it turns out, that has not happened, he has not suffered a heart attack after downing a Big Mac or been convicted of a crime and thrown in jail. And now, it will be up to voters who are tired of having their paychecks stretched, tired of worrying about their safety at home, tired of worrying about their children being indoctrinated by the LGBT agenda in schools, and tired of thinking World War III might be around the corner.
