WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 13: U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) speaks on the National Security Supplemental Bill during a press conference at the U.S. Capitol on February 13, 2024 in Washington, DC. The bill, which received contentious debate and months of negotiations in the Senate, provides military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan but is expected to be received with uncertainty in the House of Representatives. A House Republican is offering a suggestion for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) visit to Ukraine.

On Friday, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) shared an article about the New York Democrat’s trip to show support for Ukraine, and to pressure the House to pass additional aid for the country.

“Send him to serve on the front lines,” Luna wrote.

Earlier this month, Luna’s proposed “Senators Can Help Underpin Military Engagement and Readiness Act” (SCHUMER Act) bill leaked to the press.

“To whoever leaked my bill: Congratulations, you played yourself,” she wrote on X.

Luna added, “I make no apologies. My bill, the SCHUMER Act, would require Members of Congress to fight on the front lines in Ukraine if they support Schumer’s calls for American sons [and] daughters to fight.”

The Daily Mail reported the legislation would “require Members of Congress who advocate for providing military support for Ukraine to enlist in the armed forces and to serve on active duty in support of a contingency operation.”

Luna’s bill was in response to a warning made by Schumer.

During an appearance on MSNBC, Schumer warned lawmakers against rejecting the now-doomed immigration bill.

While the proposal was aimed at securing the U.S.-Mexico border. It also included $60 billion in more aid for Ukraine.

“If we don’t aid Ukraine, Putin will walk all over Ukraine. We will lose the war, and we could be fighting in Eastern Europe [as] a NATO ally in a few years. Americans won’t like that,” Schumer said.
