The Republican presidential primary field is narrowing yet again after the Iowa caucuses.

On Tuesday, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) announced he was dropping out of the race.

The decision came after he finished sixth in Iowa, winning roughly 200 votes.

In a statement, Hutchinson said, “I congratulate Donald J. Trump for his win last night in Iowa and to the other candidates who competed and garnered delegate support.”

“Today, I am suspending my campaign for president and driving back to Arkansas. My message of being a principled Republican with experience telling the truth about the current front runner did not sell in Iowa,” he continued.

Hutchinson said he stands by the way he ran his campaign and noted he “sounded the warning to the GOP about the risks in 2024 and presented hope for our country’s future.”

Finally, he expressed gratitude for “the opportunity to have fought in the political arena for America.”

On Monday, Trump easily won the Iowa caucuses with a nearly 30-point margin.

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) came in second with less than half the votes the former president received.

And former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley finished in third place, around 2,000 votes behind DeSantis.

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy also ended his campaign after the caucuses and endorsed Trump, as IJR reported.
