Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) was interrupted by demonstrators rallying against “oil money.”

The governor attended a Fox News town hall event days ahead of the Iowa caucuses, the first time voters will get a chance to formally weigh in on the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

During a question about abortion, DeSantis said, “I’m the only one running that has actually enacted protections for the sanctity of life…”

As he spoke, the governor looked over to the crowd as he appeared to notice the disturbance.

However, he continued, “I’m the only one that’s been able to do that.”

Eventually, the protesters started chanting, “No oil money.”

The protesters then unfurled a flag with the same slogan on it.

As they were quickly ushered out of the room, DeSantis said, “You know, you live and you learn with these people, right?”

“Well… that was a mistake. You guys didn’t get that one right,” he appeared to say to the hecklers.

The moment comes as RealClearPolitics average of polls shows DeSantis is virtually tied for second place in Iowa with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. However, they are both trailing former President Donald Trump by roughly 35 points.
