Actor Shia LaBeouf was confirmed into the Catholic church.

On Tuesday, the Capuchin Franciscans from Western American Province announced LaBeouf’s, 37, conversion in a statement on Facebook.

“We are thrilled to share that our dear friend Shia LaBeouf has fully entered the Church this past weekend through the sacrament of confirmation! The Capuchin Franciscan friars are overjoyed to welcome him into the fold and witness his deep commitment to his faith journey,” the statement reads.

The statement continues, “Shia LaBeouf, known for his incredible talent and passion in the entertainment industry, has embarked on a profound spiritual journey that has led him to embrace the teachings of the Catholic Church. His decision to fully enter the Church is a testament to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live out the Gospel values.”

According to Catholic News Agency, the Daytime Emmy Award winner was received into the Catholic church by Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, Bishop Robert Barron on Sunday evening.

“In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is ‘sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit’ and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ,” via the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

On Wednesday, Brother Alexander Rodriguez, Capuchin friar and LaBeouf’s confirmation sponsor, told Catholic News Agency that he desires to become a deacon “sometime in the future.”

Additionally, Rodriguez shared LaBeouf contemplated becoming a diaconate while filming his 2022 movie “Padre Pio” where he played Padre Pio, an Italian priest and saint in the Roman Catholic church.

“He just spontaneously said, ‘I want to become a deacon,’ and he still feels that way,” Rodriguez said.

In June 2023, LaBeouf revealed how playing in the movie impacted him spiritually, via the National Catholic Register.

“I pray before work; I pray before jobs; I pray before selections. I have given up [feeling that I must be] the master-creator of the universe, the supreme artist-creator. I know now that there is no such thing as a ‘creator’ — we’re all making mix tapes,” the “Transformers” actor shared.

Furthermore, he declared, “There’s only one Creator, and we’re all curators of his creation. I give all glory to God.”

“I know that Christ is with me, and Pio is with me. I move with much less fear, and I think I’m a better artist because of it,” he said.
