White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is ripping into Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) for sending migrants to blue states and cities.

“It is shameful that a Republican governor — Gov. Abbott in Texas — is using migrants as a political stunt. That’s what he’s been doing,” Jean-Pierre insisted on CNN on Tuesday.

When asked to specify what she was referring to, the press secretary said, “The busing of migrants, the putting them on flights. It is shameful that that is occurring.”

Yes, human beings are human regardless of how or why they are in the country. Everyone has inherent dignity and should be treated as such.

The image of migrants being treated as pawns and shipped around the country to cities that claim to want them but then complain when they come by the bus load is not kind or loving to them.

However, the sanctimonious tone coming from the White House on this matter is ridiculous.

Jean-Pierre’s comment comes right after we got the news that immigration officials processed over 300,000 migrants in December — setting a new monthly record.

And while the Biden administration has failed to secure the border, it has bizarrely attempted to thwart Texas’ ability to take measures into its own hands.

In October, Texas sued the federal government to prevent it from cutting a razor wire fence the state set up to try to stop migrants from crossing the border illegally.

Late last month, a federal appeals court temporarily blocked the administration from “damaging, destroying, or otherwise interfering with Texas’s [concertina wire] fence in the vicinity of Eagle Pass, Texas,” unless there is a medical emergency.

In another salvo against Texas, the Biden administration threatened to sue the state if it followed through with its immigration law that would give state officials the ability to arrest and prosecute migrants who illegally cross the border. CBS News notes the law would also give state judges the power to “issue de facto deportation orders.”

Yes, immigration is a federal matter. However, the federal government has been derelict in its responsibility of securing the border. And simply because of geography, it expects Texas — and other border states — to absorb the migrants and bear the weight of a crisis.

Aside from just rolling over or getting a time machine and going to the past to set Texas up to only be a repository for migrants and not a state, how does the federal government expect it to respond to such a demand?

Texas and Texans did not volunteer to be in this position. Yet they’ve been forced to grapple with an influx of migrants due to the president and his administration’s inability or unwillingness to take substantive measures to curb the flow of migration.

Meanwhile, Democratic mayors are realizing what border states have been saying for years: mass influxes of migrants cause a strain on state and local resources that is not sustainable — not mention national security concerns.

The Biden administration and the Left have displayed utter hypocrisy with their wailing and gnashing of teeth about Texas sending migrants to municipalities where leaders talk a big game about accepting and caring for migrants while doing almost everything in their power to let migrants flow into Texas — but only if they stay there.
