A new report dethroned New York City as the nation’s top destination to ring in the new year.

According to the annual Wallethub report, Orlando, Florida, is now the top ranked American city to spend New Year’s Eve.

The outlet noted Orlando is one of the most frequently visited U.S. cities during the holidays and the city’s attractions and dining options far surpass those of other areas.

Orlando’s fireworks displays also caught some dazzling attention for being “some of the longest fireworks displays in the country.” The city anlso allows consumer fireworks so people can create their own sparkling magic to celebrate entering the new year.

In addition, Florida has the most party supply stores in the nation and ranks second for gourmet specialty food stores.

While Orlando is the new New Year’s champion destination, New York didn’t even take the second place spot in the Wallethub report.

That honor is now owned by San Diego, California. This is due to the area’s mild weather, and lowest chance for precipitation in America.

San Diego residents are known for their enthusiasm to celebrate the New Year and so there are also plenty of events and restaurant deals to spread the excitement.

New York City came in third for top New Year’s Eve destinations due to its classic Times Square ball drop tradition.

Wallethub noted its annual report ranks cities based on three main criteria. Entertainment and food account for the majority of the score taking up half of the points needed.

Then costs are the second most important factor, taking 30% of the scoring. Lastly, security and accessibility are taken into account which make up 20% of the score.

Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Miami were also ranked in the top 10 with San Antonio, Houston, Nashville, and Birmingham, Alabama, making the top 20.
