Singer Dolly Parton honored a wish for a man dying of cancer.

According to KSLTV, LeGrand Gold, a Utah man who has been battling colon cancer for the past two years, wrote his “List of Living” on a napkin with 10 wishes he wanted to come true before he died. No. 7 on the list was to meet Parton, 77.

“I thought, ‘Well, it’s never going to happen,'” Gold admitted.

Just days after his wife, Alice, posted his wish list on Facebook, Gold received a phone call from his home state of Tennessee, according to The New York Post. It was Parton.

“Well, I’m just happy to know I have a fan that devoted,” She told Gold over the phone. “Hey LG, it’s Dolly P. I’ve heard you’ve been a fan of mine for many years, and I just wanted to thank you for that.”

During their conversation, the “Jolene” singer revealed she hoped the phone call “lifted his spirits” and said she always wanted to bring others joy with her music, KSLTV reported.

“Just know that I will always love you,” Parton voiced.

Additionally, Gold told the outlet that Parton sang to him.

“She sang me a song, put my name in the song. I feel like I’m immortal now,” Gold recalled.

Three weeks earlier, Gold was told his prognosis was terminal after a doctor’s visit.

“The scans showed the cancer spreading and getting outside of my liver, and so they said the chemo is not working anymore, the radiation is not working anymore,” he explained.

He added, “They just sent me home and said be with your family.”

Gold said he was uncertain if he would be able to complete his list and didn’t know how much time he had left.

“I don’t want to pass away during the holidays,” he stated.

Speaking of his conversation with Parton, Gold said, “It was really cool. It made me feel good.”

In a previous interview with KSLTV, Gold’s wife told the outlet she was determined to make his dream a reality.

“I have gotten so many messages from all over the place. That’s been the most heartwarming thing,” she shared.

She continued, “Even if he never gets to meet Dolly, we’re at the end of his life and that all of these two strangers have come out…and reached out and said, ‘I will do what I can. I don’t know you, but we want to make this happen.’”
