WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 12: Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) wears a protective mask while walking through the Canon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol on January 12, 2021 in Washington, DC. Today the House of Representatives plans to vote on Rep. Jamie Raskin's (D-MD) resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment, removing President Trump from office. A push to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) has failed in the House.

On Wednesday, the House voted 222-186 to table a censure resolution against her.

Twenty-three Republicans voted against it.

Last week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) introduced the censure resolution which accused Tlaib of engaging in “antisemitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations, and leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol complex.”

While the Georgia congresswoman listed a series of comments from Tlaib that she said were antisemitic, she failed to produce evidence of an insurrection.

And on Wednesday, she lashed out at the “feckless Republicans that voted WITH Democrats to table my censure resolution against Rashida Tlaib.”

“This is why Republicans NEVER do anything to stop the communists Democrats or ever hold anyone accountable!! PATHETIC,” Greene added in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), one of the 23 Republicans opposed to the measure, posted on X, “January 6 protestors were not insurrectionists, nor were those led by Rep. Tlaib. I voted to table a censure resolution of Rep Tlaib in part because it was modeled after legislation that condemned J6 protestors.”

“Also: Free speech means protecting even the speech you don’t like,” he added.

And Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who also voted against the measure, said Tlaib’s conduct is “unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation – if not censure.”

However, he explained, “Tonight’s feckless resolution to censure Tlaib was deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an ‘insurrection’.”

“I voted to table the resolution. In January 2021, the legal term insurrection was stretched and abused by many following the events at the Capitol. We should not continue to perpetuate claims of ‘insurrection’ at the Capitol and we should not abuse the term now,” he added.

(1/3)"Rep. Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people. Her conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation – if not censure."

Greene fired back at Roy, writing, “You voted to kick me out of the freedom caucus, but keep CNN wannabe Ken Buck and vaping groping Lauren Boebert and you voted with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib.”

She then accused her colleague of hating former President Donald Trump.
