Daybook wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. "The U.S. House of Representatives seeks a Speaker of the House based in Washington, D.C. Yearly salary: $223,500." Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) introduced legislation on Monday to begin the process of ousting McCarthy as Speaker of the House after the House passed a continuing resolution, narrowly avoiding a government shutdown. Hours after being ousted as Speaker of the House, McCarthy announced that he would not be running for the position again, according to The Hill. "From the day I entered politics, my initial mission has always been to make tomorrow better than today. I fought for what I believe in, and I believe in this country of America," McCarthy said.
