Savannah Chrisley, daughter of Todd and Julie Chrisley, revealed her parents are teaching classes while in prison to reduce their sentences.

During an episode of her podcast “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley,” Savannah Chrisley, 26, spoke about her parents’ ability to teach and participate in classes through the First Step Act which helps “cut unnecessarily long federal sentences” for prisoners and “improve conditions in federal prison,” per Brennan Center.

Savannah Chrisley said her mother has taught classes on real estate.

“She’s got all these certificates from teaching and completing classes and all these things. Overachiever Julie is… always has been,” she added.

Speaking on Todd Chrisley, she said, “Dad’s definitely taught some classes, too. Trauma is one of them. I think another one was a financial class, which how ironic?”

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight (ET), the couple’s attorney, Jay Surgent, confirmed the couple would be released from prison on an earlier date.

“Both Todd and Julie received reductions to their sentences as a result of the First Step Act where good-time credit is front-loaded, leaving Todd with 10 years and Julie five years, instead of 12 and seven,” he explained. “They are both model incarcerated individuals with no infractions, and they are first offenders and not violent offenders.”

In July, Surgent gave an update to People on their ongoing appeal process.

“The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals can reverse the District Court, or they could remand the case back for hearings that should have been held that were not held during the course of this trial. We argued very vigorously that their constitutional rights have been violated, and that they basically were not given a fair hearing,” he said, adding “It’s all in black and white, actually.”

In June 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted of conspiring to defraud Atlanta banks.

In January, they were originally sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison and will be required to do 16 months of probation after they complete their jail time.
