Steps Where Jesus Heals Blind Man Discovered After 2,000 Years

A picture taken on December 27, 2016 shows a section of the "Pilgrims Way", a 2,000-year-old route which is currently being excavated by the Israel Antiquities Authority in the City of David, outside the walls of Jerusalem's old city, during a ceremony to unveil a plaque bearing the name of the route before its opening to the public. The "Pilgrims way" is believed to have served as one of Jerusalem's main streets in the later Second Temple era. It starts at the Siloam Pool and ends below the steps at Robinson's Arch at the Western Wall. Today unveiled the plaque on "Pilgrims Way" and dedicated the ancient street that will soon be open to the general public. / AFP / GALI TIBBON (Photo credit should read GALI TIBBON/AFP via Getty Images)

The steps where Jesus Christ healed a blind man in the New Testament were uncovered 2,000 years later.

According to Fox News, archeologists accomplished the unearthing of nearly eight steps leading into the Pool of Siloam, a biblical site first constructed nearly 2,700 years ago.

Ze’ev Orenstein, director of international affairs for City of David Foundation, spoke about the discovery to Fox News Digital.

“The ongoing excavations within the City of David — the historic site of biblical Jerusalem — particularly of the Pool of Siloam and the Pilgrimage Road, serve as one of the greatest affirmations of that heritage and the millennia-old bond Jews and Christians have with Jerusalem,” he said.

John 9:6-7 says:

“Having said these things, He (Jesus) spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then He anointed the man’s eyes with the mud and said to him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam’ (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.”

Orenstein assured the findings were, “Not simply as a matter of faith, but as a matter of fact.”

“The half-mile running through the City of David, from the Pool of Siloam in the south, continuing along the Pilgrimage Road, up to the footsteps of the Western Wall, Southern Steps, and Temple Mount, represents the most significant half-mile on the planet,” he explained.

Additionally, Orenstein claimed, “There is no half-mile anywhere on Earth which means more to more people — not to millions, but to billions — than the half-mile that is the City of David.”

In 2022, the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Israel National Parks Authority, and the City of David Foundation announced the historical site would be excavated and opened to the public.

Rev. Johnnie Moore, president of the Congress of Christian Leaders, told Fox News Digital the discovery of the Pool is “evidence of history preserved for us, revealed at just the right time.”

“Theologically, it affirms Scripture, geographically it affirms Scripture, and politically it affirms Israel’s unquestionable and unrivaled link to Jerusalem,” he added.

Furthermore, Moore stated, “Some discoveries are theoretical,” however, “This one is an undeniable.”

“It is proof of the story of the Bible and of its people, Israel,” he continued.
