Former Vice President Mike Pence expressed his opinion that former President Donald Trump “should never be President” again.

In a post on X, the company formerly known as Twitter, Pence responded to the latest indictment charges against Trump. A federal grand jury indicted Trump on Tuesday for a third time, on four counts; conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiring to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiring against rights.

“Today’s indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States,” Pence wrote of the indictment charges.

In a Twitter thread, Pence continued to explain how he would “have more to say” after “reviewing the indictment,” adding Trump’s “candidacy means” more focus and talk on issues like “January 6th and more distractions.”

“As Americans, his candidacy means less attention paid to Joe Biden’s disastrous economic policies afflicting millions across the United States and to the pattern of corruption with Hunter,” Pence pointed out. Pence continued to stress the point that the nation was more “important than one man” or his “career,” referring to Trump.

Our country is more important than one man. Our constitution is more important than any one man’s career.

On January 6th, Former President Trump demanded that I choose between him and the Constitution. I chose the Constitution and I always will.

“On January 6th, Former President Trump demanded that I chose between him and the Constitution,” Pence said. “I chose the Constitution and I always will.”

Trump was indicted by Special Counsel Jack Smith in early June and hit with 37 charges related to willful retention of national defense information, conspiring to obstruct justice, and making false statements.

On July 27, Smith tacked on three additional charges related to the allegations of Trump’s mishandling of classified documents. The new filing from July claims Trump deleted security footage from his Mar-a-Lago residence.
