Planned Parenthood is known for its progressive policies, and now they are seeking to redefine the concept of virginity. The abortion provider posted a Tweet Tuesday which said, “Virginity is a social construct.”

The idea of virginity comes from outdated — let's be real, patriarchal— ways of thinking that hurts everyone. 📢 pic.twitter.com/QYmNbEZzbw

They claimed, “The idea of virginity comes from outdated — let’s be real, patriarchal— ways of thinking that hurts everyone.”

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a virgin is most commonly defined as “a person who has not had sexual intercourse.”

Planned Parenthood’s own website states, “A virgin is someone who’s never had sex.”

This has led Twitter users to criticize the post and question the motives behind Planned Parenthood’s statement.

Comedian Tim Young responded, “Translation: Morality costs us business.”

Political Podcaster Melissa Dawn cited the definition of virginity, “It literally describes someone who has not had sex. That’s not a construct.”

No it’s not. It literally describes someone who has not had sex. That’s not a construct. That’s a physical reality. You’re ideologies that you spout are a construct however and they suck.

Another user questioned their opposition to abstinence.

Funny how an organization named “planned parenthood” (presumably to advocate for people to only become a parent when they plan for it) would tweet something that seems to suggest that abstaining from sex comes from a “patriarchal way of thinking that hurts everyone.”

Then Town Hall editor Rebecca Downs decried alleged Planned Parenthood scandals.

Oh, Planned Parenthood wants to “be real?” “Let’s be real” about how racist and sexist the organization is, about all the evidence pointing to baby body part harvesting, Medicaid fraud, failure to report, etc.

Gays Against Groomers accused them of “sexualizing children.

Money running dry? Need some new customers? Stop sexualizing children, you sick groomers!

— Gays Against Groomers (@againstgrmrs) June 30, 2023

The Harsh Truth called the post “disgusting.”

"No that 7 year old doesn't have a hymen, but she's still a virgin until she has a baby!"

You people are disgusting.

Concerns were expressed by other users, including Toni Bones, who wrote, “This is disturbing and creepy on levels I can’t even wrap my head around.”

Tim On Point responded, “When you’re in the business of harvesting baby parts for medical research, this is a great ad campaign.”

A military man summed it up by asking, “How did this ever make it out of a brainstorming session?”

What? Are you guys serious?! How did this ever make it out of a brainstorming session?
