The chief spokesman at the college where a graduate aggressively snatched the microphone from the school’s administrator during their commencement ceremony slammed her for her actions.

In an email to the New York Post, Manny Romero from LaGuardia Community College spoke out about the tussle involving Kadia Iman and clarified what happened during the ceremony on June 21.

“An incident occurred involving one graduate who demonstrated their frustration during the student procession for not being able to hold the microphone while they announced their name,” he told the Post.

He added, “As a process for keeping the ceremony running in an orderly manner, students are given the opportunity to say their name while a volunteer holds the microphone.”

Romero further explained that holding the microphone was something that “none of the students” were allowed to do “to avoid any delay of the student procession and the ceremony.”

He also criticized Iman for her behavior calling it, “disruptive and inappropriate,” stating her actions affected the “celebration for graduates and guests.”

“Her mistreatment of a staff volunteer was unacceptable. We are currently reviewing the incident to gain a better understanding of what occurred and what we might do in the future to prevent something like this from happening again,” Romero continued.

In a viral video posted to Twitter, Iman is seen snatching the microphone from the school’s elderly staff member.

“You didn’t let me get my moment!” Iman screamed.

After she proceeded to state her full name, she declared, “I don’t like how you snatched the mic out of my hand, and today is going to be all about me.”

In a follow-up video from Iman, she explained her side of the story and accused the white educator’s motives of being racially charged by not allowing other black graduates enough time to speak.

“I just couldn’t let that happen cause I just feel like I worked so hard to graduate and went through so much s–t to graduate that I just felt like I had to reclaim my moment. I’m sorry,” she shared.
